Inspiration Behind Willow Tree Figurines

Introduced in January 2000, Willow Tree figurines are sculpted to express our heartfelt feelings to everyone and anyone we love or care about.To our family & friends; to our teachers & the dearest; and also to those far away.

The original inspiration for Willow Tree figurines is through a close & intimate line of figurative sculptures to symbolize feelings that aid us in understanding others, mend emotional wounds, or cherish bonds. Each original Willow Tree figurine is carved with this very thought in mind. The figures will continue to evolve while still representing the pure, innocent emotions that touched many across the globe. Through simple yet pure gestures, emotions such as love, initimacy, healing, courage and hope etc are cast into these elegent figurines.

Susan Lordi’s reflects our bonds with people and the world around us through each of her carefully crafted figurines. With her sharp attention of the human details, coupled with inspiration from by ballet, nature, and her personal interaction with family and friends, the Willow Tree figurines exude emotions that are touched through gestures and form only.

Besides her work in the figurines, Susan has an enduring passion of making art with cloth as well. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Textile Design, and her fiber art has been showcased internationally. Susan currently owns a studio in Kansas City, Missouri.
